The dataset comprises a list of all the flood warden groups in the Yorkshire Area of the Environment Agency – essentially – North, East, West and South Yorkshire plus Hull and a small area of Lancashire. The dataset includes the Warden Group name and the Postcode Sector of the lead warden who is responsible for that group and will live in the risk area. An example flood plan is also included to show the key actions which the groups undertake in times of flood.

The Flood Wardens provide an important link between the Environment Agency Incident Room and the local community. They disseminate warnings and act as the eyes and ears on the group and report back to the EA things like blockages in rivers, damages to defences and may have access to local stores of equipment and sandbags.
