IoT build and deploy at Wuthering Bytes

The Things Network is a crowdsourced public internet of things network that is being built by communities all round the world.

Utilising a technology called LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) devices can be created inexpensively with massive range and low power consumption. This makes it ideal for the creation of sensors and devices that can be left in remote locations

This workshop is a practical demonstration that will take people through the process of building simple devices that can be connected to the Things Network. During the day participants will build a battery powered sensor that can connect to the Things Network in Hebden Bridge or anywhere else where the Things Network exists.

Activity covered:
•Introduction to sensors
•Introduction to LoRaWAN components – radio, stack etc.
•How TTN works
•Putting together the board
•Programming the sensor
•Provisioning and using the TTN console
•Accessing and using the data

Participants will ideally be able to bring a laptop, further details will be sent to participants prior to the event.
Participants will be provided with a simple kit to make a Sensor that can connect to the Things Network
Hebden Bridge is approximately 1 hour by rail from Leeds and Manchester. Budget accommodation is available at the Hebden Bridge Hostel, with discounts available for group bookings.
