The Future of Local Growth Funding – Session 1

In this new collaborative project with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, ODI Leeds will be working to create a visual ‘dashboard’ that can summarise local growth funding across the UK and aid analysis of the future UK Government spending reviews.

The local growth funding enabled projects of all sizes that had the ultimate goal of improving economic growth through better access to jobs, education, etc. Examples of this include improved transport infrastructure so that people can get easier and faster access to areas of high job growth. But funding streams are often complex, overlapping and opaque. With a new Prime Minister and a spending review around the corner, it’s important to understand historical spending trends and needs so that we can calculate the funding needs of the future.

Join us on Thursday 15 August for the first open working session. We’ll share the research so far and open up discussions on additional sources of data, the key areas to focus on, and take suggestions about what the future ‘dashboard’ or tool should do that could help make better funding decisions in the future.

We have set up this Google Doc as a place to record data sources, suggestions, questions and more, so please feel free to start adding your thoughts ahead of the event.
