Vision Zero Innovation Lab @ Leeds Digital Festival

Come along to the Student Data Labs’ Vision Zero Innovation Lab at the Leeds Digital Festival!

What is Vision Zero?

Pioneered in Sweden, the Vision Zero initiative aims to use technology to reduce the number of road fatalities to zero. Road traffic casualties are a major public health problem. Drawing on a wide range of disciplines, Student Data Labs will be exploring ways to reduce the number of deaths on the roads of Yorkshire.

If you’re interested in urban planning, computer science, geography, design, mathematics, programming, journalism then this is the right place for you. Or if you’d like to know more about data science and how it’s being applied to address civic problems then Student Data Labs is the place to be.

The Labs will be split into two areas – a Learning Lab and an Innovation Lab. In the Learning Lab we’ll be looking at each stage of the data science process from asking questions of data to exploration and visualisation with various tools. In the Innovation Lab, you’ll be building and experimenting with different ways to approach the problem of road traffic casualties. You can choose to be part of one or both depending on your experience and interests – it’s really up to you.
